The Red Desert is a character-rich three-bedroom retreat surrounded by the immense skies and mountain views of Landers. Warm wood interiors, storied furnishings and extraordinary spaces for cooking and music give the home a soul all its own. Outside, a spectacular 75-foot pool and built-in hot tub invite long swims, starlit soaks and slow days beneath the desert sun.

The Red Desert is more than a place to stay. It is a home with history, personality and a deep sense of place, tucked into the otherworldly landscape of Landers near the Integratron and some of the High Desert’s most celebrated dining.

Wood-paneled walls and ceilings, polished concrete floors, natural materials and generous windows create an informal California modernism that feels completely at home in the Mojave. The interiors are warm, spacious and collected rather than overly polished, with memorable pieces that make the house feel as though it has lived several fascinating lives.

The outdoor setting is the undeniable centerpiece of The Red Desert. An extraordinary 75-foot-long by 25-foot-wide swimming pool stretches across the property, creating a dramatic ribbon of blue against the muted desert landscape and distant mountains.

A large hot tub is built directly into the pool, offering a beautiful place to warm up after an evening swim or soak beneath a sky filled with stars. From quiet laps in the morning to unhurried afternoons beside the water, the pool transforms the property into a private desert resort.

Nearby, a shaded outdoor living area with deep lounge furniture creates another room in the open air. Swim, read, nap, linger over lunch and watch the changing light move across the mountains. As evening settles over the desert, the landscape cools, the sky deepens and the stars begin to take over.

-Living Area-
The living spaces at The Red Desert are warm, open and wonderfully unconventional. Wood-paneled walls and ceilings bring richness and texture to the home, while polished concrete floors and large windows keep the rooms grounded in the surrounding landscape.

The centerpiece is an extraordinary 13-foot pink sofa that once belonged to Johnny Hallyday, one of France’s most iconic rock-and-roll performers. It is bold, unexpected and made for stretching out with friends after a day in the sun.

-Kitchen & Dining-
The generous chef’s kitchen is designed for people who love to cook and gather. A professional gas range, abundant workspace and an open layout make everything from slow breakfasts to elaborate group dinners feel effortless.

The kitchen remains connected to the surrounding living and dining areas, allowing whoever is cooking to stay part of the conversation. It is a space for opening a bottle of wine, putting on music and letting dinner become the evening rather than something squeezed in between plans.

-Bedrooms & Bathrooms-
The Red Desert offers three private bedrooms, making it an inviting choice for small groups of friends, couples traveling together, musicians or creative collaborators. Each bedroom continues the home’s warm, relaxed desert character and offers a quiet place to retreat after long days by the pool or evenings beneath the stars.

-Surrounding Area-
The Red Desert sits in Landers, an expansive High Desert community known for its enormous skies, mountain views and beautifully unconventional spirit.

The Integratron is practically around the corner, offering its renowned sound bath experience inside a historic acoustically designed dome. Nearby Flamingo Heights is home to La Copine, one of the desert’s most celebrated restaurants, along with Giant Rock Meeting Room for pizza, drinks and an easygoing local atmosphere.

Joshua Tree offers independent shops, coffee houses, galleries and access to the surreal rock formations and hiking trails of Joshua Tree National Park. In the opposite direction, Old Town Yucca Valley brings together vintage shops, restaurants and locally owned businesses. Pioneertown offers an Old West setting, live music and memorable nights at Pappy & Harriet’s and the Red Dog Saloon.

Return home for an afternoon swim, watch the colors change across the mountains and stay outside long enough to see the Milky Way emerge overhead.

-Age of Guests-
The Red Desert is designed exclusively for adult guests, and no one under 18 years of age is permitted at the property. The home contains adult-themed art, music and books that may not be appropriate for children or minors.

-Pool Heating Fee-
Should you wish to have the pool heated to 85 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.

$400 per night

During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 85°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.

No fee to heat the hot tub!

-Hot Tub Heating-
Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.

-Pool and Hot Tub Service-
The pool and hot tub are serviced Mondays and Thursdays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.

-Pet Policy-
We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $1000. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

-Late Check Out-
Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.
