Stars on the Rocks is a playful modern desert retreat tucked among dramatic boulders on 2.5 private acres, just minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. Spend sun-soaked afternoons in the shipping container pool, explore the rocks surrounding the home, and end each evening in the hot tub beneath an incredible canopy of stars.

Stars on the Rocks pairs clean modern design with colorful art, cozy furnishings, and the wonderfully untamed landscape of Joshua Tree. Large windows invite the desert light inside and frame sweeping views of the surrounding boulders, open sky, and native terrain.

The open living area brings the kitchen, dining space, and lounge together, making it easy for everyone to cook, relax, play games, or plan the day’s adventures. Whether you are here to explore the national park, reconnect with friends, find creative inspiration, or simply slow down beneath the stars, the home offers a comfortable and memorable base in the desert.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The landscape is one of the most memorable parts of Stars on the Rocks. The home sits among 2.5 acres of massive boulders, inviting you to explore the property and discover new viewpoints across the desert. Please use care when climbing and remain aware of loose rocks, wildlife, and desert plants. Cool off in the shipping container pool during warm afternoons, then slip into the hot tub as the evening air settles over the property. A distinctive outdoor shower tucked against the boulders offers hot water and an unforgettable open-air experience.

Stretch out on the pool loungers, gather around the propane fire pit, or relax beneath the shaded patio with coffee or cocktails. The stargazing truck bed provides a cozy place to nap in the shade during the day or bundle up beneath the extraordinary Joshua Tree sky at night. A turf area and collection of outdoor games provide plenty of opportunities for friendly competition. When it is time to eat, fire up the propane BBQ and enjoy dinner outside beneath the changing colors of the desert sky.

-Living Area-
The open-concept living room is comfortable, creative, and designed for spending time together. Colorful artwork and playful details give the space personality while large windows keep the surrounding desert landscape in view.

After a day of hiking, swimming, and exploring, settle in for a movie on the projector with Apple TV and immersive Bose 5.1 sound. The vintage organ is fully functional and adds an unexpected touch of musical character. A chaise converts into a queen-size bed, creating an additional sleeping space for guests.

-Kitchen & Dining-
The streamlined kitchen makes excellent use of its space and includes everything needed for casual meals at home. A gas cooktop, conventional oven, multifunction countertop oven, stainless steel refrigerator, cookware, and Keurig coffee maker provide several options for preparing meals throughout your stay.

The kitchen opens directly to the dining and living areas, allowing everyone to remain part of the conversation while meals are being prepared. Just outside the kitchen door, a propane BBQ and outdoor dining area make it easy to enjoy relaxed dinners in the desert air.

-Bedrooms & Bathrooms-
The primary bedroom features a king-size bed, storage for clothing and luggage, an ensuite bathroom with an oversized soaking tub, and expansive views across the surrounding desert. The second bedroom also includes a king-size bed, closet space, and bedside tables with built-in outlets for charging devices.

Both bedrooms are designed as quiet, private retreats and include additional soundproofing for separation from the living area and one another. The queen-size sleeper chaise in the living room provides additional sleeping accommodations.

-Surrounding Area-
Stars on the Rocks is located approximately two minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, placing unforgettable hiking trails, rock formations, desert vistas, and world-renowned sunsets within remarkably easy reach.

Joshua Tree is known for its creative energy, independent shops, local restaurants, vintage stores, art galleries, wellness experiences, and distinctive desert culture. Spend the day hiking or rock climbing, book a sound bath or guided stargazing experience, explore the nearby towns, and return home to your own boulder-filled sanctuary beneath the open sky.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets inside the home remain locked and house supplies for the rental.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

Please note that the last 0.5 miles will be on a dirt road. While the road is maintained and all vehicles can drive on the dirt road (4-wheel drive is not necessary), please take it slow to respect our neighbors and not kick up dust. Please note that the dirt roads may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.

-Pool Heating Fee-
Should you wish to have the pool heated, please notify us in advance of your arrival. Pool heating is available for an additional charge of per night, subject to availability and seasonal conditions. Heating must be requested at least 24 hours in advance, and requested heating days must be consecutive to conserve energy.

► $150 per night

Pool heating is not usually necessary during the warmer summer months. During winter, the high desert’s colder temperatures may prevent the pool from reaching or maintaining the temperature guests expect. Refunds cannot be issued because the water feels cooler than anticipated. The pool is professionally maintained throughout the year. Because this is a natural desert environment, wind, dust, insects, and small pieces of plant material may occasionally enter the water between services.

-Hot Tub-
The private 4-person hot tub is maintained at approximately 104°F. Please replace the cover after each use to help preserve the temperature and keep desert debris out of the water.

-Family Policy-
Children are welcome and must be included in the total guest count. Please be aware that the house and natural landscape are not childproof. There are no outlet covers or protective gates around the pool, and the property contains boulders, cacti, uneven terrain, and wildlife. Children and infants must remain closely supervised at all times. Guests bringing an infant accept full responsibility for the child’s safety.

-Pet Policy-
We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $1000. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Quiet Hours-
Please be respectful of our neighbors and the surrounding desert. San Bernardino County maintains strict ordinances regarding excessive noise and light pollution. Outdoor noise must remain low and respectful, and quiet hours begin at 10pm. Failure to observe quiet hours after a warning may result in cancellation of the reservation without a refund.

-Outdoor Music-
Outdoor amplified music is prohibited by county regulations. Sound travels surprisingly far in the open desert, so music must remain indoors at a respectful volume.

-Wildlife & Safety-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

Cellular service can be limited in this secluded desert setting. We recommend downloading directions and any important information before traveling to the property.

-Wi-Fi-
The home currently receives internet speeds of approximately 15 Mbps. Because the property is in a remote area, speeds and connectivity may fluctuate due to neighborhood bandwidth, weather, and other conditions outside our control.

-Late Check Out-
Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.
