Designed by Hammer & Spear, this high-design desert sanctuary was created for those seeking beauty, quiet, and a deeper sense of presence. Set on five private acres in Yucca Valley, the home blends minimalist architecture with warm wood interiors, curated furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling connections to the surrounding landscape. Every line, texture, and view has been intentionally composed to create a feeling of calm.

Here, the desert becomes part of the experience. Mornings begin slowly with coffee and soft light moving across the mountains. Afternoons invite you to cool off in the cowboy plunge pool, rinse beneath the outdoor rain shower, or simply stretch out in the shade with nowhere to be. Evenings unfold around the fire pit or in the private hot tub as the sky turns pink, then deepens into a canopy of stars.

Cool off in the seasonal cowboy plunge pool, rinse beneath the open-air rain shower, or settle into one of the outdoor lounge areas surrounded by native desert plants and quiet skies. As evening arrives, the property becomes especially magical. Gather by the propane fire pit, share dinner beneath the shaded patio, or slip into the private hot tub as the stars begin to appear overhead. With minimal light pollution and expansive desert skies, this is the kind of place where the night feels endless and time seems to slow.

Inside, the studio living space feels intimate, sensual, and deeply calming. Warm wood-paneled walls, designer lighting, minimalist furnishings, and large view-facing windows create an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and grounding.

The open-concept layout allows the living, sleeping, and dining areas to flow together naturally, creating a cocoon-like retreat for two. Curl up on the sectional after a day in Joshua Tree National Park, read in the cozy nook as the afternoon light shifts across the room, or enjoy a quiet night in with the Smart TV and integrated sound. The design is understated but intentional, allowing the landscape, light, and silence to take center stage.

-Kitchen & Dining-
The kitchen is sleek, modern, and fully equipped for slow mornings and intimate evenings in. Stainless steel appliances, a gas range, microwave, cookware, and essential tools make it easy to prepare anything from a simple breakfast to a romantic dinner at home. Start the day with locally roasted coffee using the drip coffee maker or French press, then gather at the indoor dining table as sunlight fills the space. Outside, a shaded dining area and propane BBQ grill invite open-air meals beneath the desert sky.

Whether you are cooking together, enjoying takeout from a favorite local restaurant, or lingering over wine after sunset, the dining experience here is meant to feel easy, private, and unhurried.

-Bedroom & Bathroom-
Pause House PM comfortably accommodates two guests in a thoughtfully designed open-concept studio. The queen-size Casper mattress is dressed with premium linens, creating a soft and restful place to land at the end of the day. The sleeping area is surrounded by warm wood tones, minimalist decor, and view-facing windows that bring the desert light indoors.

The ensuite bathroom features a luxury rain shower and clean modern finishes, creating a spa-like experience that mirrors the calm of the rest of the home. Outside, the open-air rain shower offers an unforgettable way to rinse off beneath the sky and feel fully immersed in the landscape.

-Surrounding Area-
The High Desert has long been a place for artists, seekers, healers, and travelers drawn to its quiet power. Joshua Tree National Park offers surreal rock formations, iconic desert trails, and unforgettable golden-hour landscapes, while the surrounding towns bring together art, music, design, wellness, and some of the most beloved restaurants and shops in the desert. Spend the day hiking through Joshua Tree, exploring Pioneertown, experiencing a sound bath at the Integratron, browsing local boutiques, booking an in-home massage, or simply staying close to the property and letting the desert do what it does best.

Pause House PM is designed for exactly that kind of stay. One where the itinerary can be as full or as empty as you need it to be.

The entire home and property are yours to enjoy during your stay. Please note that a few supply closets are locked to store housekeeping and maintenance supplies.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area. Rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

Please note that the final stretch to the home is on maintained dirt roads. Four-wheel drive is not required, but road conditions can vary and may have bumps or ruts, particularly after rainstorms. Please take it slow.

-Cowboy Tub Availability-
The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during winter months (November - March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.

-Pet Policy-
We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, with a limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $1,000. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

-Security Camera-
There is one exterior security camera monitoring the driveway for vehicle and occupancy compliance. There are no cameras facing private outdoor living areas, including the hot tub, plunge pool, or outdoor shower.

Damage Waiver Policy: Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver

-Late Check Out-
Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.
