The Kassita is a modern Mediterranean desert retreat inspired by travels through Ibiza, Mykonos, and Marrakech. Collected textiles and outdoor elements layer warmth and global influence into a sun-washed, minimalist setting framed by mountain views. Mornings are slow, sunsets are epic and ever-changing, and indoor and outdoor fireplaces glow as day turns to night. With Sonos flowing from the interiors to the pool and patio, the atmosphere shifts effortlessly from serene to electric.

The outdoor space feels expansive and immersive, surrounded by mountain views and endless sky. The saltwater pool and spa evoke a Mykonos-inspired atmosphere, positioned perfectly to take in sweeping desert vistas. Built-in firepit seating invites long evenings under the stars, while the outdoor living room features a sculptural propane fireplace, plush seating, and overhead heaters for year-round comfort. A shaded dining area and BBQ create an ideal setting for slow meals outdoors, while multiple lounge areas allow you to follow the sun or retreat into shade throughout the day. As evening falls, the desert reveals its magic - cool breezes, glowing sunsets, and a sky filled with stars.

The living room is warm, grounded, and inviting, centered around a built-in sectional designed for gathering and unwinding. A sleek fireplace adjacent to the sectional adds a soft glow in the evenings, while a large smart TV and integrated Sonos sound system create a cozy yet elevated entertainment experience. The space feels both intimate and open, with natural textures and thoughtful design details that encourage slow mornings, quiet afternoons, and relaxed nights after exploring the desert.

The kitchen is both functional and beautifully designed, featuring white oak cabinetry, brand-new appliances, and a fully stocked setup for everything from simple breakfasts to elaborate dinners. Clean lines and natural materials create a calm, welcoming space to cook and gather. Just off the kitchen, the dining area offers built-in seating and an effortless connection to the living space. Large doors open directly to the patio, allowing meals to flow easily outdoors. Whether you're sharing coffee in the morning light or hosting a sunset dinner, the space is designed for connection and ease. Outdoor dining and a BBQ area extend the experience, making it just as enjoyable to cook and dine under the open sky.

Each bedroom at The Kassita is designed as a private retreat, with soft textures, calming tones, and a sense of quiet luxury throughout. The primary suite features a king bed, a spacious built-in closet, and a spa-inspired ensuite with a soaking tub, large walk-in shower, and double vanity. A private patio extends from the suite, complete with an outdoor shower for a truly immersive desert experience. The second bedroom also offers a king bed, along with its own private patio and outdoor shower. It has direct access to a beautifully designed hallway bathroom. The third bedroom features a queen bed and a private ensuite bathroom, offering comfort and privacy for additional guests. All bathrooms are thoughtfully finished with elevated plaster built-ins and a clean, earthy aesthetic that enhances the home’s serene, spa-like atmosphere.

Just 5 minutes away, you’ll find The Integratron - an iconic desert landmark known for its immersive sound bath experiences, offering deep relaxation beneath its unique acoustical dome. A short 8-minute drive brings you to some of the area’s most beloved culinary destinations, including La Copine, known for its elevated, seasonal desert cuisine, and Giant Rock Meeting Room, a laid-back gathering spot serving wood-fired pizza, natural wines, and craft cocktails in a beautifully designed space. Joshua Tree National Park is also within easy reach, where you can explore iconic rock formations, hike scenic trails, and experience some of the most breathtaking desert landscapes in California. The nearby town of Joshua Tree offers a creative, laid-back vibe with local cafes, boutique shops, and a strong artistic community. A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

Please note that The Kassita is in a remote location, and the last 0.2 miles to the home are dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.

-Pool Heating Fee-
If you’d like the pool heated to 84°F, please let us know at least 24 hours before arrival. A daily fee applies due to high fuel costs. If heating for multiple days, days must be consecutive. Pool heating is usually not needed from May through September.

No fee to heat the hot tub!

-Pool Heating-
Only one of the pool or hot tub can heat at once. If you wish to use the hot tub while the pool is heating, just note that the pool heating will turn off while the hot tub heats. Once the hot tub is turned back off, the pool heating will resume.

-Hot Tub Heating-
Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.

-Pool and Hot Tub Service-
The pool and hot tub are serviced Thursdays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.

-Desert Wildlife & Safety Tips-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

-Security Cameras-
There are security cameras facing the outdoor areas (the front entry, backyard and the pool) for security and in order to monitor the quantity of people and cars on the property, so we may ensure compliance with local ordinances, and for insurance and liability purposes. These cameras are not monitored unless an event like a party or injury occurs. There are no security cameras inside or facing any private areas of the home, such as the outdoor showers.

-Damage Waiver Policy-
Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver

-Late Check Out-
Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.
