ZEN - Zen Casa

Zen Casa is a three-bedroom Joshua Tree retreat where the best days are spent outside. Wander along desert pathways between hammocks, a seasonal cowboy tub, and a custom deck with a hot tub overlooking the mountains. As the sun sets, gather around the fire pit beneath wide-open skies. Inside, warm modern interiors offer an inviting place to relax, cook, and reconnect with friends or family.

Zen Casa has a relaxed, contemporary character that feels right at home in the desert. Natural wood beams, polished concrete floors, woven furnishings, and warm earth tones soften the clean architecture, while large windows bring the surrounding landscape into view. The open living room flows into a beautifully designed kitchen, creating an easy gathering space where everyone can spend time together without feeling crowded.

Outside, the property unfolds into a collection of inviting spaces connected by pathways through the desert landscaping. Rather than gathering around a single patio, guests can find their own favorite corner, whether that's a hammock in the afternoon breeze, a quiet spot in the sun, or the hot tub as evening settles over the mountains. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and room for up to six guests, Zen Casa is especially well suited to friends and families who appreciate both shared experiences and time to themselves.

-Outdoor Amenities-
Outdoor living is the heart of the Zen Casa experience. Follow the paths winding through the desert landscaping to discover places to gather, stretch out in the sun, or simply enjoy the quiet. Hammocks invite lazy afternoons with a book, while the broad wooden deck offers two different ways to cool off or unwind.

The cowboy tub is especially refreshing on warm desert days, with a circular design set into the deck and views across the surrounding landscape. It is a cowboy tub rather than a traditional in-ground swimming pool and is unavailable November through March. Beside it, the hot tub offers a relaxing place to soak while watching the changing colors of the desert sky.

An outdoor shower adds to the open-air experience, while the BBQ grill makes it easy to prepare a casual meal at home. When the temperature drops, gather around the fire pit for conversation and a view of the stars. With open desert stretching toward the distant mountains, the setting offers a wonderful sense of space.

-Living Area-
The living room is bright, comfortable, and thoughtfully furnished, with a caramel-toned sofa, woven lounge chairs, textured pillows, and natural wood details that bring warmth to the modern interior. A large area rug and low coffee table create a welcoming place to settle in, while the open layout keeps the atmosphere light and relaxed.

Spend an afternoon reading on the sofa, catch up over drinks while dinner comes together in the adjoining kitchen, or enjoy a movie on the smart TV with your favorite streaming apps. High-speed internet and a dedicated workspace also make it easy to stay connected when needed.

-Kitchen and Dining-
With deep blue-gray cabinetry, crisp white countertops, warm brass accents, and a large picture window overlooking the desert, the kitchen is one of Zen Casa's most appealing interior spaces. Its generous island offers plenty of room for preparing meals, with four wooden barstools where friends can sit and chat while someone cooks.

The kitchen comes fully stocked for preparing meals at home, with modern appliances, generous counter space, and the essentials for everyday cooking. Start with an easy breakfast at the island before heading out to explore Joshua Tree, or spend an evening preparing dinner together. The outdoor BBQ offers another option when you'd rather cook in the fresh desert air.

-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Zen Casa accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms with three beds and two bathrooms, providing a comfortable arrangement for couples traveling together, a small group of friends, or a family getaway.

The primary bedroom has the added benefit of its own private patio, a lovely place to step outside for a little quiet before joining the rest of the group. Two additional bedrooms provide separate sleeping spaces, allowing everyone to recharge after a day exploring Joshua Tree National Park or enjoying the home's outdoor amenities.

Whether your plans involve hiking, visiting local restaurants, or spending the entire day moving between the hammocks and hot tub, Zen Casa offers a welcoming home base with plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy the desert.

-Surrounding Area-
Joshua Tree village, La Copine, Joshua Tree National Park and Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown all make good outings from Zen Casa.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

Many roads in the area are dirt, so please drive slowly. Four-wheel drive is not required, but roads may have ruts or uneven surfaces, particularly after rain.

-Cowboy Tub-
The pool at Zen Casa is a cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.

-Hot Tub Rules-
Please rinse off any oils, lotions or other substances before entering the hot tub, as they affect water quality. No drinking in the hot tub, please. Keep the cover on when the hot tub is not in use, since desert debris easily gets into the water. Misuse of the hot tub may result in an additional maintenance charge.

-House-Specific Rules-
► Please keep music at a reasonable volume and turn it off by the start of quiet hours.
► Weddings and events are by inquiry only and are subject to permits and applicable law.

-Pool and Hot Tub Service-
We have hot tub and cowboy tub cleanings twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and these days may fall during your stay. Please avoid using the hot tub immediately after it has been serviced, as chemical levels are higher than usual for a short time.

-Pet Policy-
We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed due to the owner's severe allergy.

-Wildlife & Safety-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
