Perfectly positioned between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree (great location to do both!), it is a place to escape, reconnect and settle into the stillness of the desert.

Hotel California is a colorful, thoughtfully designed desert retreat surrounded by mountains and open sky. Modern furnishings, playful accents and a relaxed layout make the home feel welcoming, while the secluded setting creates a genuine sense of escape.

The main house offers four bedrooms, comfortable gathering spaces, a fully equipped kitchen and three smart TVs for relaxed evenings at home. A detached guest suite adds a fifth bedroom, private bathroom, loft and game room with a pool table.

Outside, the property unfolds across 2.5 fully fenced acres with a private pool, built-in spa, sauna, yoga deck, outdoor bathtub and shower, fire pit and sweeping views in every direction. With plenty of room to gather and plenty of quiet corners to retreat to, Hotel California is ideal for friends and families seeking the best of both Palm Springs and Joshua Tree.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The expansive outdoor space is the soul of Hotel California. Surrounded by uninterrupted mountain views, the fully fenced 2.5-acre property feels peaceful, private and far removed from everyday life. The private in-ground pool is approximately four feet deep and can be heated during the cooler months for an additional fee. Beside it, the built-in spa provides a warm place to unwind at the end of the day, with complimentary heating available upon request.

A private sauna, outdoor bathtub, outdoor shower and elevated yoga deck create a serene wellness experience in the middle of the desert. Spend the afternoon lounging beside the pool, practice yoga with a mountain view, then gather around the propane fire pit as the sun disappears behind the surrounding ridgelines. The property also includes a propane BBQ and generous outdoor space for relaxing beneath the wide-open sky. Because Morongo Valley can experience strong winds, pool umbrellas are not provided.

-Living Area-
The inviting living area blends modern desert style with comfortable furnishings and thoughtful pops of color. It is an easy place to gather after a day in Palm Springs or Joshua Tree, whether you are settling in for a movie, sharing drinks or planning the next day’s adventure. Three smart TVs provide access to streaming apps such as Netflix and Hulu using your own accounts. A dedicated workspace and satellite Wi-Fi are also available, although connection speeds may vary because of the home’s remote mountain setting. The detached guest suite offers another space to relax and play, complete with a pool table, loft and private bathroom.

-Kitchen & Dining-
The full kitchen is equipped with modern Café appliances, including a refrigerator, oven, stove and microwave. Cookware, pots, pans, dishes, cups and utensils are provided for preparing everything from a quick breakfast to a relaxed group dinner. The kitchen’s open, welcoming atmosphere makes it easy to cook together and enjoy slow mornings before heading out to explore. Coffee and basic starter supplies are provided.

A propane BBQ is available outside for grilling with the mountains as your backdrop. Please note that the former outdoor mini refrigerator has been removed, but the full-size indoor refrigerator remains available.

Hotel California accommodates up to 10 guests across five bedrooms and seven beds.

► Bedroom 5 is located in the detached guest suite and features two queen beds in the loft, a private bathroom and a separate entrance.

The property includes four bathrooms, giving larger groups plenty of space and privacy throughout their stay.

-Surrounding Area-
Hotel California is tucked into the mountains above Morongo Valley, offering a secluded home base between two of Southern California’s most iconic desert destinations.

Head down the Morongo Grade for restaurants, galleries, architecture and poolside culture in Palm Springs, or travel into the High Desert for vintage shopping in Yucca Valley, live music in Pioneertown and the creative energy of Joshua Tree Village. Joshua Tree National Park offers unforgettable hiking, rock climbing, scenic drives and stargazing among its namesake trees and monumental rock formations. After a day of exploring, return to the stillness of the property for a soak, a sauna session or sunset from the yoga deck.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that there is a locked supply closet that houses supplies for the rental.

The large gated driveway can accommodate up to 10 vehicles, but all vehicles must only be parked inside the property gates.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

Please note that Hotel California is in a remote mountain location and the road to the home includes unpaved sections. Low-clearance vehicles are not recommended. Please drive slowly and carefully, as dirt-road conditions may include bumps and ruts, particularly following rain or periods of high wind.

The road immediately outside the property gates is an easement belonging to the neighboring property. Guests may drive across it to enter and exit Hotel California but may not walk along it or park on it. All vehicles must be parked inside the property’s fenced area.

-Outdoor Amenity Updates-
Pool umbrellas are not available because high winds can damage them and create a safety hazard for guests. The outdoor mini refrigerator shown or referenced in older materials has also been removed. The full-size indoor refrigerator remains available for guest use.

-Road and Easement Access-
The road immediately outside the property gates is a private easement belonging to the neighboring property. Guests may use it only to drive to and from Hotel California. Walking, gathering or parking on the easement is not permitted. All vehicles must remain inside the property gates.

-Pool Heating Fee-
Should you wish to have the pool heated to 84 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.

► The pool heating fee is $400 for the first day and $150 for each consecutive additional day.

During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 84°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.

No fee to heat the hot tub!

-Hot Tub Heating-
The spa is not heated continuously in order to conserve propane. Please message us through the Airbnb message thread approximately two hours before you plan to use it so we can activate the heat. Please also message us when you have finished using the spa so the heat can be turned off.

-Pool and Hot Tub Service-
The pool and spa are serviced Tuesdays and Fridays. Pool service may occur during your stay, and the technician will access the outdoor area briefly without entering the house. Please avoid using the pool or spa immediately after service, as chemical levels may be temporarily elevated.

-Pool and Spa Care-
All guests must shower before and after using the pool or spa. Please rinse away dirt, oils, lotions and other products before entering the water, as these can affect water quality and cause discoloration. Pets are not permitted in the spa. Food, alcohol and glass containers should be kept away from the water. The spa cover must remain secured when the spa is not in use and must never be stood or sat upon. Additional cleaning or maintenance charges may apply if the pool or spa is left excessively dirty or damaged through misuse.

-Desert Wind-
Morongo Valley can experience periods of strong wind. Please secure personal belongings and use care throughout the outdoor areas when windy conditions are present.

-Noise and Outdoor Use-
Sound travels long distances across the open desert. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am, and external speakers are not permitted. Please keep music, voices and outdoor activity at a respectful level throughout your stay. Noise violations may result in fines of at least $1,000. Parties and large gatherings are strictly prohibited. An unauthorized party or gathering may result in a $500 charge.

-Pet Policy-
We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $1000. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate cats because of the owner’s severe allergy. Thank you for understanding.

-Satellite Internet-
The home receives internet service through a satellite connection. The Wi-Fi is suitable for everyday use, but speeds and reliability may vary due to the remote location or weather. Cell reception may also be limited depending on your carrier.

-Wildlife & Safety-
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

-Late Check Out-
Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.

-Damage Waiver Policy-
Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver
