FIY - Fox Inn

Fox Inn is a three-bedroom hilltop retreat in Yucca Valley where the desert feels like part of the home. A wall-spanning accordion door opens the living and dining area to sweeping boulder and mountain views. Spend an afternoon on the outdoor bed above the rocks, cool off in the seasonal cowboy tub, or settle into the hot tub as the valley lights appear below. With spectacular eastern sunrises, this is a place worth waking up early for.

Warm wood ceilings, oversized paper lanterns and natural textures give Fox Inn a relaxed, contemporary character. The interiors are thoughtfully understated, allowing the landscape to take center stage. Sunlight fills the open living and dining area, where a wall of folding glass creates a remarkable connection to the surrounding boulders and distant mountains. Whether you're sharing a meal with friends, reading in the afternoon light or simply enjoying the view, the house makes it easy to slow down and spend time together.

With three comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms and an outdoor setting that invites exploration, Fox Inn is particularly well suited to couples traveling together, families and small groups of up to six who want to experience the desert from a beautiful hilltop perch.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The outdoor spaces are what make Fox Inn especially memorable. Built into a rocky hillside, the home offers several distinct places to take in the landscape, from the patio just outside the living room to an outdoor bed perched above the boulders. Bring a book, stretch out in the sunshine and enjoy the wide-open views across Yucca Valley.

On warmer days, the sun deck and loungers invite a leisurely afternoon beside the cowboy tub, a refreshing spot to cool off between stretches in the sun. An outdoor shower makes rinsing off easy. Please note that the cowboy tub is not an in-ground swimming pool and is drained and unavailable from November through March.

As evening approaches, the patio becomes a natural gathering place. Prepare dinner on the propane BBQ, eat outside with the surrounding rock formations as your backdrop, then move to the outdoor couch around the propane fire pit. The hot tub sits overlooking the boulder field, with a beautiful perspective on the desert as daylight fades.

The property's natural desert grounds are not fully fenced.

-Living Area-
The living room is designed around its extraordinary connection to the outdoors. Open the expansive accordion door and the boundary between the house and patio nearly disappears, bringing fresh desert air and panoramic views into the main gathering space.

A comfortable sofa, sculptural rounded seating and warm, natural finishes create an inviting place to relax. Spend an afternoon with a book, put on music through the Bluetooth sound system or gather for a board game. When you're ready for a quieter evening indoors, settle in for a movie on the TV.

The room feels bright and open during the day, while the wood ceiling, soft lighting and comfortable furnishings give it a welcoming atmosphere after dark.

-Kitchen and Dining-
Fox Inn's open kitchen and dining area makes preparing meals feel like part of the gathering. A generous kitchen island offers room to spread out ingredients or sit with a drink while someone cooks, and the adjacent wooden dining table seats six beneath oversized paper lantern pendants.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, kettle, cookware and cooking utensils. Coffee lovers will appreciate the drip coffee maker, French press and complimentary locally roasted Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee.

With the accordion door open, the dining area looks directly toward the rocky hillside and distant mountains. Enjoy breakfast in the morning sunshine, linger over dinner indoors or bring your meal outside to the patio when the weather is inviting.

-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Fox Inn accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms, each designed with a calm, uncluttered feel and comfortable bamboo sheets.

The primary suite features a king bed with a natural wood headboard, an ensuite bathroom with a shower and access to its own private patio. It's a lovely place to start the morning quietly before joining the rest of your group.

The second bedroom offers a queen bed, an arched mirror and a smart TV, creating a comfortable space to unwind independently. The third bedroom features another king bed, providing a generous sleeping arrangement for a second couple or additional guests.

Both bathrooms feature showers, with clean, contemporary finishes that complement the home's understated design. A crib and high chair are also available upon request for families traveling with little ones.

-Surrounding Area-
The Copper Room at the historic airport is close by for a drink, and so is Old Town Yucca Valley. Save La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room, Pappy & Harriet's and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park for other days, then come home in time to watch the boulders turn gold.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

There are no dirt roads to the house, and there is cell phone coverage at the property.

-Cowboy Tub-
The pool at Fox Inn is a cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.

Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
