This striking, beautifully designed desert escape is located on 2-acres in Yucca Valley, just minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. Sink into the private pool and hot tub, gather at the fire pit as the sky turns pink, then drift off under some of the clearest stars in the desert. This is a place for slow mornings, quiet evenings, and total reconnection with the desert around you.

Black Butterfly brings together mixed exterior materials, high grade galvanized steel, and warm stucco to create a look that is equal parts sophisticated and industrial, all while staying rooted in its natural desert surroundings. Every corner of the home has been thoughtfully designed, with custom pieces throughout that give the space a curated, one of a kind feel. The home is calm, private, and made for unplugging. It comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests across 2 bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom, making it a great fit for couples, small families or a group of friends looking to slow down together.

🦋 Outdoor Amenities 🦋
Step outside to an elevated pool and attached jetted spa, framed by stone pavers, desert gravel, and native agave and cactus landscaping. Adirondack chairs circle the fire pit, and a row of lounge chairs lines the pool, making it easy to spend the whole day moving between sun, shade, and water. As evening comes, the sky turns from gold to deep blue over the surrounding Joshua trees, and the fully fenced 2 acres feel completely private, whether you are soaking in the spa or watching the stars come out from the fire pit.

The living room is warm and moody, anchored by a stone accented fireplace wall, a mounted TV, and a cluster of oversized woven straw pendant lights overhead that set the tone for the home's design throughout. Sink into the leather sofa and enjoy the views through the floor to ceiling glass windows and patio doors that fold open to the pool and patio, blurring the line between indoors and out. It is the kind of space made for slow evenings, a good book, or gathering with a drink in hand as the desert light fades outside.

🦋 Kitchen & Dining 🦋
The kitchen is sleek and moody, with dark charcoal cabinetry, concrete countertops, and a waterfall edge island that anchors the space. It comes fully equipped with brand new appliances, including a refrigerator, oven, stove, and microwave, along with all the basic pots, pans, plates, cups, and utensils you will need, plus a gooseneck faucet and locally sourced Joshua Tree coffee to start your mornings. A row of matching straw pendant lights hangs above the adjacent built-in dining table, connecting the kitchen and dining area into one easy gathering space, ideal for cooking together, casual breakfasts, or a full group dinner before heading back outside.

🦋 Bedrooms & Bathrooms 🦋
Both bedrooms carry the same moody, elevated design as the rest of the home, with dark walls, arched wood style headboards, wrought iron chandeliers, and woven pendant sconces that give each room a warm, one of a kind feel. Both bedrooms offer a king size bed with its own en suite bathroom. An an extra air mattress is available in storage for additional flexibility for larger groups. Sliding glass doors bring in desert views and direct access to the patio, so mornings start with sunlight and a view of the pool right outside. Each en suite bathroom is spa inspired, with a dual sink vanity in natural wood, tall backlit mirrors, brass fixtures, and a walk in shower finished in stone. Every detail is designed to feel like a private retreat after a day spent outdoors.

Tucked into a peaceful stretch of desert, Black Butterfly offers an easy, flat, and safe drive in, along with unpolluted night skies that make it a favorite for stargazing enthusiasts. It is a great home base for nature lovers hoping to spend time among the desert's unique flora and wide open landscape.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area, rideshare apps are not guaranteed.

Please note that the last 450 feet to Black Butterfly is reached via dirt roads. The drive is simple, flat, and safe, so getting to the home is easy, but please take it slow on the unpaved stretch.

🦋 Living Room Windows 🦋
Please note that the living room does not have window treatments. This is an intentional design choice intended to preserve the home’s natural light and open feel. The street generally has minimal traffic; however, guests who prefer greater visual privacy may wish to consider this when booking.

🦋 Pool Heating Fee 🦋
Should you wish to have the pool heated to 84°F, please notify us in advance of your arrival, as there will be a supplemental charge per night for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you would like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that the days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.
► $300 for the first night, $250 for each additional night

🦋 Hot Tub Heating 🦋
Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.

🦋 Pool and Hot Tub Service 🦋
The pool and hot tub are serviced Wednesday, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the pool.

🦋 Pet Policy 🦋
We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $1000. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

🦋 Wildlife & Safety 🦋
The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

🦋 Security Camera 🦋
There is one Ring floodlight security camera located at the front of the home for security and occupancy verification purposes. There are no cameras facing interior spaces or private areas such as the pool and hot tub.

🦋 Late Check Out 🦋
Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver
