The living area has two comfortable couches, one of which is a sofa bed that opens up to a queen memory foam mattress for extra sleeping space. Rewind time with a curated collection of DVDs for a movie night and relive the magic of the classics. For gamers, an original Nintendo console awaits, promising hours of nostalgic gameplay. Spin your favorite vinyl records on the record player and let the music transport you and set the mood.

The kitchen at Luna is fully equipped with modern appliances and utensils offering all the essentials to prepare meals. Spices, cooking oils, Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee, sugars, creamers, tea, and much more are provided to make you feel right at home. A drip coffee machine and French press are also provided, giving you options in how to enjoy your morning coffee. For those in a hurry, we provide oatmeal and breakfast bars as well. The adjacent dining table is a perfect spot for chilly mornings, with a fire in the fireplace giving off gentle warmth. The dining table on the back patio is the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco sunset dinner, with plenty of space for all to gather under the disco balls.

Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as curious pets can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. Matt and Kristi Kautz are from Santa Monica, CA. Matt is a VP at PlayStation, and Kristi is an interior designer and ceramicist. Their High Desert story began with a shared obsession with Joshua Tree, exploring it together as often as they could until they finally decided to buy a place nearby of their own. When they came across two mid-century houses on ten pristine acres bordering protected land as far as the eye can see, they fell in love. Local legends of alien encounters and vortex fields on the property inspired them to transform the 50's houses into Starship Landing: a place for space, whether it’s physical, mental, or cosmic. Today, they couldn't be happier that they get to share this magical space with their guests.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it’s important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as curious pets can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

Matt and Kristi Kautz are from Santa Monica, CA. Matt is a VP at PlayStation, and Kristi is an interior designer and ceramicist. Their High Desert story began with a shared obsession with Joshua Tree, exploring it together as often as they could until they finally decided to buy a place nearby of their own. When they came across two mid-century houses on ten pristine acres bordering protected land as far as the eye can see, they fell in love. Local legends of alien encounters and vortex fields on the property inspired them to transform the 50's houses into Starship Landing: a place for space, whether it’s physical, mental, or cosmic. Today, they couldn't be happier that they get to share this magical space with their guests.

We had a wonderful stay! The surroundings were absolutely beautiful, and the house was spotless and very well maintained. It was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the amenities were thoughtful and plentiful. We were also lucky enough to enjoy an incredibly beautiful starry sky at night. It was such a peaceful and memorable experience, and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommended!
The place was amazing 🤩. We had a great time the Jacuzzi heat was on spot and very clean. My kids loved the cowboy pool. The record player in the living room was fun to use. My kids enjoy the Nintendo Game something they had never used. There was lots of games for my kids and the yoga room was great it was like a game room . Overall stay was peaceful what we were looking for would definitely stay again.
This desert property is quiet, immaculate, and thoughtfully run. It also, gently, abducts you into a slower orbit. Mornings unfold in hammocks to roadrunner calls; afternoons drift in a cowboy pool; evenings arrive with Patsy Cline on vinyl and a glass of desert wine, poured with the care of a tasting menu. Every detail, down to the wink-and-nod extraterrestrial decor, signals hosts who treat hospitality as choreography, not chore. By night, the hot tub becomes an observatory: skies clear enough to catch the ISS drift past, or something less explainable. Keep watch, our friends from beyond seem fond of this address. It closes, fittingly, with a classic film and the quiet only the desert provides. Nothing here feels accidental, not the design, not the pacing, not the sense you’ve been handed a small, perfect universe for a few days. A rare property, exceptionally run.
